Sewin ( sea trout) Night Intruder step by step.

The Intruder is a pattern i have been using for a number of years now, for sewin & salmon and they have worked very good for me. in this country and aboard , this colour has worked very well at night for me and my mates.

Above, The tools of the tie, Partridge 35mm Intruder shank. Partridge Z4 Intruder hooks size 4, and Beadalon wire size 0.45mm.
When you get the Partridge shank, the eye is straight i put a kink in it so now we have a up eye.
Now i slip the hook onto the wire, ready to whip to shank.
Now i put the shank in vise, with the eye facing up.
Now i catch in the thread, for this i use Danville 210 denier in white.
I have now run thread down the shank, to the rear of the shank in touching turns.
Now i catch in the wire loop, make the loop big enough to change hook. should it get damaged,
Now i run the thread down shank to the eye, at the underneath of shank. i cut wire 3/4 of the shank,
Above, You can see i have finished running thread down the shank in touching turns.
Now i coat the thead with super glue,
You will note that i have not folded the wire to lock in the wire, when using super glue there is no need to do this. i have never had a hook link pull out on any of my flies, i have landed salmon to 30lb on this kind whip with out it moving. i have done test to over 60lb pulls without it shifting,
Now we start the tying of fly, i have changed the thread to Danville 60 denier white.
Here we tie in some chenille, i have use done this to act as a pillow. to stop the hackle collapsing,
Above the chenille ball id finished.
Now tie in a red saddle hackle, i use Whiting hackles.
Here i have wound on four turns of hackle.
Here the tie in has been cleaned up.
Now i tie in the body rib, i have used flat silver embossed tinsel.
Now i catch in the body floss, i have used black for this pattern.
Above, i have wound on the body floss.
Now i have wound on the rib,
Here above, i have cleaned up the tie in.
Now we tie in another pillow of chenille, for the front hackle.
 Above, the finished pillow.
Now i tie in the front hackle, again i have used a Whiting saddle black hackle.
Above, i have wound on the front hackle.
Above i have cleaned up the hackle.
Now its time to tie in the over wing of Amherst tail feather.
You can use a dubbing loop to do this, but i like to tie it in with clumps of feather. and when winding it on take the feather filaments around the shank,
Above, i have now finished the over hackle and cleaned it up.
Now i have tied in a wing of black Marble fox.
Now i tie in some flash, of holographic tinsel red & silver.
Here is a side view now of Intruder,
Now its time to tie in some jungle cock cheeks, firstly the near side.
Now both sides are tied in, and cleaned up.
Now i change the tying thread to hot orange, Danville 60 denier.
Now the fly needs to have some varnish, i have not tied in any dumbbells on this one. as i will not be fishing it in very deep water,
Above, showing the finished head, i have used Bond-bug UV resin. which is cured with a UV blue light.,
And above is the finished intruder in my hand to show size, these patterns give you a great profile on a lightly dressed fly. if you have not tried these patterns try them as they work very well.
